                OF
FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Little Hands Preschool’s purpose is to assist parents in the early education and developmental processes of their families through a non-denominational, Christ-centered, attitude and approach.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

* To provide a program that promotes the development of the individual child.

* To prepare the child with socialization skills that encourage interaction and cooperative play with other children.

* To provide a warm and positive place of learning in addition to the home.

* To provide a foundation of learning in preparation for the child’s entrance into the public or private school systems.

GOVERNING AUTHORITY

  • Little Hands Preschool is a ministry of the First Christian Church (Independent) and is governed by the Preschool Board under the direction of the General Church Board. The Preschool Board sets policy that is then administered by the Director who is responsible for the daily operations of the program. We are licensed by the State of Kansas to serve 24 children daily.

    CURRICULUM

Three specific areas will be among the programs core:

  •               1) Educational Services:

Each day will include a structured learning time when the children will be taught such things as numbers, the alphabet, writing their name, colors, and shapes. While basic Bible stories and truths will be taught on a regular basis, no denominational doctrines will be taught. These basic Bible themes will help to encourage positive attitudes such as sharing, fairness, truthfulness, and kindness.

                  2) Arts and Crafts:

Another portion of each day will be a time to encourage individual creativity while teaching such basic skills as how to color, cut, and paste.

                  3) Physical Activity:

The third portion of each day will be a time of physical play and exercise. An important part of each child’s growth is learning how to be part of a larger group. Learning to play and socialize with other children will help them accomplish early socialization skills.

    ENROLLMENT AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    1) Each child accepted into Little Hands Preschool must be a least three (3) years of age by     August 31, and must be toilet trained.
